Xmas Pressie Inspiration - For Her

Thanks to the efforts of the Dungarvan Chamber of Commerce along with the Town Council and Waterford Leadership Programme, our little town has never looked so enticing in the run up to Christmas! The Christmas lights at Walton Park are amazing, but what I'm loving is the extra effort put into all of the Christmas Window Displays around town... Dungarvan really is 'Aglow' this Christmas!

Now we all get tempted by the big city lights and shopping from the comfort of the couch, but I genuinely think many of you would be surprised at the great range of quality Christmas presents available right here on our doorstep. Imagine the difference it would make if we all bought just one additional gift locally this year?

So here are a small few idea's spotted out and about recently...

Great range of Hunter products available at Hamish Hawkin & Co. in Grattan Square. Perfect gift for the festival goer or the stylish mammy who loves the outdoors. Short wellington €85, long wellington €105, wellington socks €39.99, and range of hunter accessories such as hat, scarf & snood available also.

What woman these days doesn't own a hair straightner of some format...my hair couldn't be any straighter and I still have my beloved GHD! These colourful GHD options are available at Siobhans Hair Salon at the top of Mary Street from €129.

Love this Smashbox Brush Roll with five great quality make up brushes available at Murrays Pharmacy in Grattan Square for €101. Murrays also have some fab Smashbox Eyeshadow sets under €40 whilst stocks last.

A woman can NEVER have too many handbags!! Great range of quality handbags available from Signet on Main Street with many under €50 such as these gorgeous quilted bags for just €49...the picture doesn't do these the justice they deserve!

What woman doesn't love a pair of comfy slippers, and these novelty dog slippers are a treat from Cynders on Main Street at only €29...perfect for the dog lovers in our lives!

These Chrysalis stackable bracelets available from Ciaran O' Flynn Jeweller's will be my Christmas present to myself this year! Individual bracelets range from just €23 to €35..pop in to see the great range of options available.

Have I inspired any of you to pop into town for a look? If so, I recommend you make a day of it and pick up some lunch and a cuppa in one of our great cafe's/restaurants while your at it...now there's a topic that deserves a blog post all of it's own!!

Remember Style Dungarvan is on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram...spread the love.

Mi Moneda at Ciaran O'Flynn's

So what's at the top of my Christmas wish list this year...a Mi Moneda! I've spent the last few months humming and hawing over which colour combination to choose, what length of chain would work best with various outfits, and then of course which one of the hundreds of coins to choose from...but that's the beauty of Mi Moneda...versatility! Also, if it's good enough for Halle Berry, Rhianna, Kendall Jenner and our very own Roz Purcell then it's sure as hell good enough for me!

What's even better is the range is available right here on our doorstep at Ciaran O'Flynn Jewellers. Now there are quite a few places around Dungarvan where I've grown to expect great customer service, and the girls in here never disappoint...they went to great trouble to order in earrings for my bridesmaids when I ordered my wedding rings (what seems like an age ago!), but it's those little things that stick to mind.

The Mi Moneda Collection available at Ciaran O'Flynn Jewellers .

The chain and coin holder elements are available in a choice of gold, silver or rose, and with various chain lengths and two coin sizes to choose from the finished price really depends on what tickles your fancy. A guide price of €130 will get you started, but I would definitely recommend popping into the girls, tell them your budget and let them show you what your options are.

Time to start dropping some hints ladies....

The O2 Lift Facial at Oceana Day Spa

If there ever was a candidate to try out a facial last week it was me. Baby Ellie is just 5 weeks now, and my skin has all the signs of it... serious bags under my eyes, hugely dehydrated with an added few breakouts here and there...hmmm welcome to mammyhood eh!

When Triona from Oceana Day Spa kindly invited me in to try out 'The O2 Lift' from Image Skincare, I was ready to take the hand and all off her! I had heard a bit on various blogs and media over the last few months about 'The O2 Lift', or as it has been referred to 'The Red Carpet Ready Facial',  so last Thursday morning I headed off  for some well deserved pampering.

You can find out more about Image Skincare on their Facebook page.

Once inside the doors of Oceana I left all of the late night bottle feeds and dirty nappies behind me and began to drift off whilst Triona began to work her magic. To begin with my skin was thoroughly cleansed, followed by the the application of an enzymatic facial peel which smelt absolutely divine. This was essentially exfoliating my skin and preparing it for the masque. I must say the time Triona spent massaging the peel into my skin and giving a gorgeous neck and shoulder massage seemed to last a lifetime and was super relaxing!

Next came the fun bit...the oxegenated masque was applied, which basically infuses oxegen into the skin to eliminate bacteria and remove toxins. Soon after I began to feel a bubbling like sensation...I found myself explaining this sensation to a friend as like Rice Krispies going snap, crackle & pop, hard to explain but extremely refreshing.

Once the masque had been cleansed off Triona applied a serum like product (pure plant stem cell enhancer to be precise) which is full of vitamin C and works to rejuvenate skin and prevent those dreaded signs of aging. Triona then applied a moisturiser, and just before I had to return back to reality I was treated to a head massage. BLISS!

Loved how tastefully decorated the treatment rooms at Oceana.

I have to say I was impressed...my skin felt so clean and fresh afterwards, and I genuinely felt there was a real glow to it...it would have been great if I was going somewhere that night as my makeup would have went on like a dream! I generally suffer from a lot of redness and have noticed my skin has been less likely to flare up over the last few days...it felt like all the dullness had been exfoliated away.

I would 100% recommend treating yourself to 'The O2 Lift', and think it would be ideal just before a big event, (hence the 'Red Carpet Ready' tagline). You can to check Oceana Day Spa's Facebook page for contact details and to keep up to date on all of their latest special offers and recent work.

Would love to hear any feedback on what you guys thought of my review, feel free to leave a comment below or on Facebook and don't forget to invite all of your friends to like us too! I hope you enjoyed my review as much as I enjoyed my facial :)

Bank Holiday Beauty Treats

Time for most of us to get the glad rags on for some form of divilment over the coming Bank Holiday weekend...one could argue every weekend is a form of fancy dress for some of us ;)

Whilst browsing Facebook during late night feeds & nappy changes (the amazingly gorgeous Baby Ellie arrived on October 12th last), here's a quick round up of some of the treats on offer across our beauty salons over the next few days...

There is some great value to be had at Oceana Day Spa this weekend, with €20 being the price for Makeup with Lashes/ Full Body Spray Tan/ High Definition Eyebrows or Shellac Nails. Personally think the Make up with Lashes for only €20 is a great price, and a great way of trying out somewhere new for those who might not have been to Oceana before.

Olivere's is running their now well known Mini Mix Offer until the end of October. This is always a great treat, you simply mix & match one treatment from Box A with one from Box B...all for only €50. I can't recommend the Vinylux Nails in Box B highly enough...check out my review of it here.

Mini Mix Offer from Olivere's...running until the end of October

Maybe your not heading out this weekend but deserve a little pampering all the same? Pop into the girls in Revival Beauty where their Guinot Aromatic Facial is on offer at the moment for €40 (normally €55), you can also choose to upgrade to include a therapeutic back massage for €60.

Over Abbeyside Marcelle's Beauty Room has some great value also, with a Full Body Tan for €20 and Shellac Nails including removal for €20 (that really is great value...and is one way to ensure you don't damage your nails attempting to stubbornly remove the Shellac yourself...we've all done it!).

For those of you from the Kilmacthomas direction Beautified by Gemma is offering an Eve Taylor Express Facial with Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage for just €40.

And if you're ditching the glad rags for some Trick or Treating this weekend...give the girls in Advanced Beauty a shout. They have been posting some great Halloween Nails & Make Up pictures on their Facebook page during the week... and I'm sure whatever Fancy Dress ideas you have in mind can be catered for.

Love these Halloween Themed Nails...Check out Advanced Beauty, Tanning & Nail bar's Facebook Page for some more Halloween inspiration.

Hope this inspires you to go out and give yourself a little treat this Bank Holiday weekend. There are already some great offers popping up for midterm break next week, will have an update early next week.

Have a good one,

Dungarvan Fashion Designer NEEDS YOUR VOTE!

Most of you will have already heard of Suzanne Ferncome, but for those of you who haven't she is possibly one of the most creatively talented young people from Dungarvan at the moment!

Suzanne Ferncome with one of her pieces that picked her up a prestigious 'Diet Coke Design award' 2012.

Suzanne (26) is a former student of Limerick College of Art & Design, and following picking up a 'Diet Coke Design Award' last year, she has recently spent time studying at the renowned London College of Fashion.

As an intern with International fashion designer 'Jantaminiau', Suzanne worked on pieces that were worn by none other than Lady Gaga, and has had top model Helana Christensen showcasing one of her pieces at London Fashion week after being awarded a 'Triumph Inspirational Award'.......so yes she's a pretty talented young lady!

Suzanne's piece 'If I Were a Boy', winner of a 'Triumph Insirational Award 2010', modelled by Helena Christensen.

Suzanne is currently involved in a competition running on Facebook to have her collection 'Lightness of Being' showcased at Las Vegas Fashion Week 2014. Currently sitting in 3rd place behind designers from the USA & Mexico, we're asking for your help to get Suzanne into poll position!

All you need you to do is click on the link below and vote...simple!

Former Waterford Rose of Tralee Lorna Ferncome, wearing one of her sister Suzanne's creations at the Rose of Tralee 2012. This dress went on to be auctioned with all  proceeds donated to 'IDK' (Irish Deaf Kids).

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE share this through as many means possible, this would be an amazing opportunity for such a talented young designer to get exposure of this kind...so let's get voting, liking & sharing with your friends, friends of friends, friends of friends of friends...ok you get it right?

Coats, Coats, Coats...

That Autumn chill has arrived, and after the summer we had who are we to complain? Autumn/Winter is without doubt my favourite time of the year to dress...I love layering, accessorising with hats, scarves & leather gloves ... and not having to worry about tans and toes!

In the colder weather investing in a good pair of skinny jeans/jeggings, a nice pair of boots and a good coat will have most of your trips out & about town pretty much sorted...so a good coat really is an investment piece for your wardrobe this Winter.

During the week I popped into some of our fab little boutiques and fashion retailers around Dungarvan with camera in tow and here's what I came across...

I definetly recommend investing in one of these shorter options for the autumn. They can be thrown over jeans, a tee & pair of flats or dressed up at night with a pair of heels, also look great over a dress! The teal option option from Venture also comes in a Cream and Grey, and I loved the red option from Signet as the main body of the jacket was a comfy fabric with leather sleeves.

Fell in love with this navy Chanel style jacket from Signet with leather detail, and burgundy is a huge colour this Autumn/Winter with this option from Benetton also available in Black.

I've seen this burgundy option from Bella on and the cape detail on top is super flattering, also comes in Black. And I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the price tag on this navy option from Signet....looks so much more expensive than €89.95 (hope I took down the price right lol)!!

The full length quilted coat from Bella is a steal at only €39.95 and also comes in Navy & Black...it's definitely an option for those of you who dedicate your Saturday mornings to the sidelines of local soccer/GAA fields ;) And you cannot, I repeat cannot beat a good, warm Parka coat like this one from New Look.

There really are some great options in coats at really competitive prices right here in Dungarvan, hope this encourages you to have a look around whilst in town over the weekend and buy locally ;)

New Look Dungarvan's ...New Look!

Hard core New Look fans queued in the rain earlier this morning to be one of the first one hundred customers through the door to get their hands on a goody bag! Once inside there were lots of oooh's and ahhhh's as everyone checked out the amazing facelift the store has undergone!

New Look fans queuing in the rain this morning to get a glimpse of the store.

Store manager Ann-Marie Kelly cuts the ribbon to officially launch the store's new look.

With the retail head on me I was in love with the visual merchandising throughout the store, everything from the windows to the product handling across each department...you could have been in their flagship store in the Jervis Shopping Centre...huge well done to all the team!

My highlight was the FOOTWEAR department....oh how I long to get back into heels! Some of the autumn/winter styles in store are nothing but amazing, and so competitively priced!

I want to paint this quotation on my bedroom wall!!

Amazing choice of Jewellery, bags and accessories downstairs!

Some of the stylish early birds checking out the amazing Autumn/Winter stock in store this morning!

On a more serious note, with many UK retailers downsizing their Irish operations (B&Q, Homebase & Marks and Spencer to name but a few), isn't it great to see New Look investing money into a store in our little town? The store looks amazing and if the queue's at the tills (upstairs and downstairs) were anything to go by, it's money well invested by the company and the girls have a very busy weekend ahead of them!

Do pop in for a look over the weekend, hope you enjoyed my preview :)

Vinylux Nails from Olivere's

From the makers of Shellac Polish has come a range called CND Vinylux...a polish that is said to last up to seven days without chipping and unlike it's shellac counterpart you can remove the polish yourself from home without the need to get it professionally removed!

Now Nail Polish and I have always had a rocky relationship...no matter how careful I am I'll have a chipped nail within 24 hours, and so I said I'd check out how good this Vinylux polish really is!

I popped into Olivere's on Friday evening and although she gave me a choice of a few summer colours, I chose this fab 'Dark Lava' colour...I love, love, love Autumn colours!!

Here's a pic I took of my nails Friday evening, and you can see that as of this morning they are still PERFECT!!!

To say I'm delighted with my nails would be an understatement...they even got a compliment from the hubby!! And to top it off, the girls in Olivere's are doing Vinylux nails for the month of September for only €15!

Some of the colours available in the Vinylux Range...really want to try the grey!

To book this great offer, contact Olivere's on 058-45222.

New Second Hand/Vintage Shop

Yesterday I paid a visit to Dungarvan's newest business venture, a second hand/vintage shop aptly named 'Dress To Impress'. Friends Karen Whelan and Kay McCarthy chose a small intimate setting at 31 Mary Street to begin their new adventure, and I must agree there is definitely a demand for this kind of shop in the town!

Not only can you pick up fashion at a fraction of it's original cost, but 'Dress To Impress' also allows you to make money from items you might have gathering dust in the back of your wardrobe!

It's simple, the girls will take up to 10 items of clothing, footwear or accessories (in very good condition), agree a selling price with you and if the item sells within six weeks you get up to 50% of the sale...happy days!

Dresses from 'Dress To Impress', all between €30 and €45...a fraction of their original cost!

Come on girls, you all have pieces gathering dust at the back of your wardrobes...the more of us that give pieces to the girls, the more interesting it will be for everyone. I can certainly think of one or two local girls who I would love to hear are after dropping some pieces in.

LOVE the boots on bottom right of pic!!

The very best of luck to Karen and Kay, it's great to see new business opening in the town amidst the typical doom & gloom that's too often associated with retail.

I already have some dresses in mind that could do with a new home...

St.Augustine Debs

After failing to make it over to the CBS debs on Tuesday evening, I was looking forward to my fix of style tonight. As the students of St. Augustine's took their turn on the red carpet at The Park Hotel this evening, I certainly wasn't left disappointed.

I must say one of the highlights of the night was being told by some of the girls that they're already following the blog...awwww it really is the little things keep me happy!

Here are just a few of my picks of the night...

Loved this vintage inspired dress on Niamh Kiely. Her soft curls to the side looked effortless and the classic red lips complimented her outfit perfectly.

This gorgeous black lace number was stunning on Jemma Kiely, and I loved the pop of classic red in both her clutch and lips.

Mollie Lenihan's stunning white lace dress reminded me of my own wedding dress...we obviously have great taste Mollie!

Katie Kiely's date Colm O'Cleary definitely deserved a mention for his outfit! The deep burgundy suit teamed with a retro styled shirt and tie really stood out from the rest of the crowd.

My dress of the night was this amazing number on Niamh Clarke, absolutely loved how the colour complimented her gorgeous hair perfectly...beautiful!

Was trying to snap a pic of this little cutie all evening! Lauren O'Dwyer's Grecian style white dress suited her perfectly, and the detail on the back was just as amazing.

Did I miss you or your friend tonight? Would love for you to tag #styledungarvan on your debs pics on Instagram...I know how you guys love Instagram ;)

Ard Scoil na nDéise Debs

Sorry so late in the evening, but here's a glimpse at some of the amazing style that was on show at the Ard Scoil na nDéise Debs tonight...

Hayley Norris in a stunning full length gown, loved her hair colour with this dress and the jewel detail wrapped around the neckline was amazing!

Aishling Farrell's floor length sequin gown from Virgo's Lounge was the first dress to catch my eye...stunning!

Jenny Hurley stood out from the crowd in her amazing vintage style dress, with an Imelda May style up do courtesy of the girls in Medusa Hair.

Loved how Laura Sheehan accessorised  her nude/pale pink floor length gown with gold belt, gold sequin bag & headband!

Big fan of this Royal Blue dress on Aisling Spratt, and Ciara Beresford looked absolutely stunning in this gold sequin floor length gown.

My dress of the night was Dayna Lawlor's floor length sequin gown (the back was amazing!), and Laura Duggan stole the show in this white sequin gown with her balayage locks (loved the red lippy!)

Girls I would love, love, love for you all to tag #styedungarvan on your Instagram and Twitter snaps, I'll pop up my favourites here on the blog! Hope you're all having a great night!
